Nonlegal Intern - Spring 2019

KIND Undergraduate Spring Internships 2019 – DC/VA* 


Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) is looking for two undergraduate spring interns to assist with general administrative and clerical work for KIND. These positions will be unpaid, but we are happy to assist with school credit. These positions will also be based out of our Virginia office located at 2815 Hartland Road, Falls Church, VA. For more information about KIND, please visit



Interested applicants must have a passion for social justice or immigrants’ rights, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and have experience in data management. Ideal candidates are organized, independent, detail-oriented self-starters who are open to evolving responsibilities. Spanish language skills are preferred, but not required.


In addition, interns must be:

  •  Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program
  •  Able to work at least 15 hours per week during the spring 2019 semester



Undergraduate spring interns will gain experience in administrative and clerical work by assisting KIND with the following: maintaining KIND’s case management system, answering phones, organizing e-files, assisting with community outreach events, drafting routine correspondence, and assisting with shipping and mailing. In addition to administrative work, interns will also have the opportunity to conduct country conditions research, accompany staff to legal trainings and presentations, and complete special projects for the Pro Bono Coordinating Attorneys and Family Separation Team, as needed.
