Legal Intern, Special Programs-Family Separation

Department: Legal Programs

About KIND:

Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) is a global leader in the protection of unaccompanied refugee and migrant children. Launched in 2008, KIND champions a world in which every child’s rights and well-being are protected throughout their journey to safety. KIND now has offices across the United States and in Mexico that provide unaccompanied children with holistic care that includes legal assistance and social services. Through strategic partnerships, we provide pro bono legal representation for refugee and migrant children across the country. Since its inception, KIND has received referrals for more than 21,000 cases and now serves over 5,000 children annually in partnership with nearly 700 law firm, corporate, law school and bar association partners.

KIND’s Family Separation Team was formed in response to the profound crisis caused by the Trump Administration taking children away from their parents upon arrival at the U.S. border before, during, and after the “Zero Tolerance Policy.” The Family Separation Team works to help children and families reunify and obtain protection and legal status in the United States.
